The first cut of the user registration and confirmation by email functions are now complete. This is an important step toward the completion of Milestone 1, Core and User Management. Unfortunately progress has been a little slower than we had hoped, due to an intensely busy period at Ballaird, but work is going on and we are looking to complete Milestone 1 in March. This milestone will give us a functioning infrastructure of users, groups, sessions and associated admin tools. The next milestone will deliver the first content management tools.
The first cut of OCCCM's core configuration, database and session management functionality is up-and-running. The session management tools provide for affinity-free load balancing by storing session data in the database; an additional option to use memcached for high performance on single-server implementations is in progress.
Whereas the original OCCCM was tightly-coupled to MySQL, the new version uses PEAR::MDB2 and is intended to be database independent - though we still believe that MySQL is an ideal platform for a CMS, and will use it as the primary database for development and testing.
Ballaird Ltd is pleased to announce that OCCCM is coming in from the cold! After two years with no development, Ballaird has taken over the project and commenced implementation of a complete new version. A solid new design has been completed, which will result in significant improvements in functionality, flexibility, scalability and performance. Watch this space!
